In the course of the official visit to the Republic of Serbia, the Chairman of Russian Federal Assembly State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, together with Republic of Serbia Assembly President, Ms. Maja Gojkovic, visited the Memorial Cemetery of Belgrade Liberators (1944),  on June 16, 2019, where they paid respects and laid wreaths at the cemetery  and the Monument to the Red Army Soldier within this memorial complex.

The local football legend Dragoslav Šekularac who passed away on January 5,2019 at the age of 82, was laid to rest at the Alley of Meritorious Citizens within the New Cemetery in Belgrade on January 10, 2019. One of the best local footballers was accompanied to his final resting place by his family, colleagues, friends, Red Star representatives, admirers and significant number of prominent sport and public scene figures.

This year marks the 103 anniversary of the Battle of a Mojkovac between the Austro-Hungarian Army led by the General Wilhelm von Reiner and Montenegrin Army under the command of the General Janko Vukotić, which took place on the Orthodox Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, i.e., January 6 and 7, 1916. Veteran’s Day Commemorations at the New Cemetery of Belgrade – December 4, 2018

Within the Veteran's Day related commemorative activities, the wreaths were laid to the Memorial Ossuary of Belgrade Defenders (1914-1918), and Memorial Ossuary of the Serbian Soldiers Fallen in the course of the Serbian-Turkish (1876-1878) and Serbian - Bulgarian War (1885). The wreaths were laid by the high ranking officers of the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of Defense Ministry in addition to the representatives of the associations for fostering the traditions of Serbian liberation wars. The wreaths were also laid at the Memorial Cemetery of Belgrade Liberators (1944).

Remembrance Day commemorated at the New Cemetery of Belgrade

100 years form signing the armistice in the WWI was commemorated on November 11, 2018, at the New Cemetery of Belgrade, in terms of the state ceremony with participation of the Diplomatic corps of Belgrade. The central state manifestation of laying wreaths and paying respects at the Memorial Ossuary of Belgrade Defenders (1914-1918), was conducted by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic, on behalf of the Serbian Government's Committee for Fostering Traditions of Serbian Liberation Wars.

Commemoration at the Austro- Hungarian Military Cemetery- WWI Armistice Centenary

The requiem service in front of the St. Nicolas Church was conducted by his Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and His Eminence Bishop of Šumadija - Jovan, with concelebration of the significant number of Clergy. This all-around erudite was accompanied to his final resting place by the family, colleagues, friends, admirers and citizens of Belgrade.
